Welcome to Donors are sexy!

We are two students who are deeply concerned about the low organ donor rate in the US. A low organ donor rate means long waitlists for evrybody who waits for an organ (currently more than 100.000 people across the country) and therefore a lot of suffering and death that could have been prevented easily.

To raise awareness for this subject and to motivate more poeple to become organ donors we want to start a viral social media campaign. We are planning to produce various youtube videos and will use social networks, blogs and other tools to spread the word.

Currently, we are working on our message. We don't want to work with guilt or shame but we want to emphasize the positive aspect: How good it feels to be an organ donor and that organ donors are better people. Hence, we are working on a couple of ideas to show in a funny way that organ donors are sexy, smart, saavy and sweet.

We will keep you updated about every step in our campaign and we invite you to take part in it in every form that you want. You can tell your friends about it, produce your own video or just tell a story in your or our blog.

We are looking forward to hearing from you and don't forget to sign up as a donor on www.donorsaresexy.org!

  1. So far - only a week in - 14000 people have watched our first YouTube video. That is very motivating and we are very grateful for everybody who watched and referred out video. Stay tuned for a new movie coming this weekend!

Thank you everybody for a great start!

  2. Did you guys give up?? I was hoping you would help me raise awareness now that there are over 113,000 on the transplant list and 130 more added each day. It makes for pretty sad statistics when you take into account that only 75 transplants happen in the US on a daily basis and 19 die every day while waiting for "the call" that will save their lives.
